Before exercising:
Participating in slow, dynamic, static stretching is a good way to get flexible, warm up for exercise and develop body awareness. Be sure to wear stretchy clothes and wear comfortable, supportive shoes.

Big, Beautiful! But Not in the Mood?
Everyone knows that obesity is a health risk. But did you know that it lowers the libido? Fat cells increase the production of estrogen and decrease testosterone, a hormonal shift that puts the sex drive in neutral. Add the lower self-esteem that often occurs with the overweight, and you have a classic case of "Not tonight, dear..." How to lift the libido? Weight loss!

Get your children to eat a healthy breakfast!
A turkey or Canadian bacon sandwich on whole-grain bread with cheese and a little mustard or barbecue sauce along with an apple makes a perfectly nutritious way to start the day and can even be very appealing to those fussy eaters. You can even make the sandwich the night before. The same can be said for a hamburger. Just zap and put on a bun prior to departure.

If your child refuses to eat breakfast, keep a stash of protein bars on hand. The higher the protein the better. It not only rebuilds tissue, but it also has staying power until lunch and helps people stay focused.

No pancakes or waffles. Too many carbohydrates, which can make a sleepy head even sleepier in the morning.

A high-powered protein bar is good any time.

Brown Bag Lunch
That old stand-by peanut butter is great with bananas or shredded carrots, also on whole-grain bread or a sliced bialy. Kids love wraps. Try a turkey or ham burrito wrapped in a lowfat tortilla. Also, great for a snack.
