Dr. Robertson's depth of knowledge and experience in the field
of weight management and its problems made him a frequent source
of information for the FDA. He was quoted often in diverse publications
ranging from The New York Times, Reader's Digest and the
University of Texas Newsletter to McCall's magazine,
the South China Morning Post and Bon Appetit magazine,
to name a few. Dr. Robertson also talked about diet, nutrition
and fitness topics on TV and radio stations across the country
and overseas, including the British Broadcasting Corporation
(BBC).
Southwest Bariatric Nutrition Center has participated in research
projects with the University of Colorado; the Kranert Institute,
Indiana University Medical Center; and the NIH (National Institute
of Health) regarding Energy Expenditure During Weight Loss and
in the Post-Obese Reduced State as well as in Lypolysis measured
by Microdialysis.
Dr. Robertson was a member of The American Medical Association
(AMA), Arizona State Medical Association and the Maricopa County
Medical Society. Dr. Robertson was Board Certified by The American
Society of Bariatric Physicians (ASBP) since 1980 and was a past
member of the ASBP Board of Trustees. He was also a member of
the North American Association for the Study of Obesity (NASSO)
and the American Obesity Association (A.O.A.). Additionally,
Dr. Robertson served on the boards of Scottsdale Healthcare and
St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center from 1978 until his
retirement in 2005.
